Picnicking in the “wild”
There are two fantastic options for a unique picnic experience in Curaçao. One of these is a picnic in the salt pans , organized by Landhuis Jan Thiel. From the country house you will be taken to the picnic spot by handcart. Everything is ready for you there: a beautifully decorated place with cushions, where food and drinks are placed for you. Catching fish “baby” style
At Mimi Eco Farm near Fuik they have, as the name suggests, set up an eco-farm. What makes this so fun and unique is that even small children can fish here. There is a large pond with many small fish where you can go fishing with a wooden fishing rod and a piece of dough. Our children love this! It's very basic; there are a few plastic chairs to sit on and not much else. There are some other animals around you, such as chickens and cats, walking around happily. You can also book a tour with them where they explain more about their farm and the ecosystem. This way you can even make it educational and adventurous.
Spend the night on Klein Curacao
Is that possible? Yes, that is certainly possible! Spending the night on Klein Curaçao is of course a fantastic adventure! Go there by boat, take all your overnight gear with you and there you are, on an uninhabited island. In the evening you can have a barbecue together and of course make a nice campfire under the beautiful starry sky. At night you crawl into your tent. It can be surprisingly cold in the evening, so bringing a nice (thick) sweater is not an unnecessary luxury, and don't forget to bring enough deet!
Clamping
It's not a typo. It's not camping, not glamping, but Kryoyo style camping, Klamping . This unique Klamping experience in Curaçao offers the choice between Christoffel Park or San Juan. You can swim at San Juan, while you can enjoy nature in the Christoffel Park. The accommodation consists of wooden tents, complete with mattresses, pillows and solar lamps. You will be welcomed with a drink and a host will guide you to the Klamping site. In the evening you can have a barbecue and enjoy a breathtaking sunrise. The breakfast package is delivered in the morning, after which you can choose between resting in your tent or participating in activities. The entire experience lasts 22 hours and in the early afternoon you will be returned to the entrance of the Christoffel Park.
Beach day Playa Hundu
It takes some searching and knowing where to go, but the result is definitely worth it. Are you done with the famous beaches where all the tourists and locals go? If you are looking for a beach where you will most likely be all alone, then this is the place for you. You will find it just past the Soto cemetery, turn left. Drive over the dam and keep going straight; the first part is not asphalted, but afterwards it is asphalted again. After a winding, winding road, you arrive at the beach. There is plenty of shade, but there are no other facilities. So make sure you bring your own food, drinks and chairs and relax! Watch out for the fire coral, so water shoes are definitely recommended.
